Vicfold Recyclers on #CampusCleanUp Outreach; Our Environment, Our Commonwealth.

Bryan Stevenson says it takes courage to stay hopeful in the face of daunting situations. That's certainly the mindset one should imbibe to tackle the growing menace of climate change. In a country like Nigeria, where key stakeholders are either unaware of the magnitude of the problem or have failed to make the connections between the growing human and food security issues and the daunting effects of climate change.

This lack of awareness is a clog in the wheel of  effective policy and process response to environmental issues. It is worrisome, and a situation begging for attention. As with most problem - solving scenarios, the first task is identifying the problem and the next is looking for ways to solve it. Passing the buck to the government of the day alone to handle will not serve any good purpose.

As individuals, we can take measured steps to stir up action and choose, (making conscious effort ) to live responsibly and encourage those around us to do the same. That's the kind of attitude Vicfold Recyclers have adopted. In collaboration with the Lions Club of Ilorin, they debuted the first #CampusCleanUp outreach on the 8th of August. The team converged at 9am,at the Kwara State Polytechnic Institute of Technology, after a pep talk from Mr Victor Amusa, the CEO of Vicfold Recyclers, we paired up in twos and began our door to door campaign. As we walked through campus, we chatted with students, lecturers, shop owners and visitors of the campus community. Our message #PickupThatTrash #CleanEnergy
#StareDownOnPollution
#Reward4Waste #DrinkandCrush #Five4One
#LetstalkaboutClimateChange
Our procession drew stares and curious ones bold enough to stop and ask what we were about. Our theme song This is my planet, this is my home,

This is my planet, I will play my role.
Role role, are you playing yours? Earned us a few guilty smiles.

It is indeed a daunting challenge to get more friends, colleagues and neighbors to join the call to action for community change. But, far worse is the unmanaged impact of climate change.

Environmental issues are making global news headlines, don't be left out of prioritizing the sustainability of our planet,  that is the only way we can secure not only today but also the future generation.

Vicfold Recyclers is not backing down or shying away. The mini campus outreach is the first of many campaigns. We invite you to follow us on any of our social media networks: https://twitter.com/vicfoldrecycler, https://facebook.com/vicfoldrecyclers and https://www.instagram.com/vicfoldrecyclers/ ,  to get updates on our activities. Cheers!
